Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic
As far as protected anal sex is concerned it is considered to be safe in terms of
HIV,
Syphilis and
Gonorrhea.
However, even a condom protected anal sex does not provide complete protection against other STD's like
Genital Herpes, Genital
warts and
Molluscum contagiosum.
A condom covers only a portion of the shaft of penis and leaves a lot of area exposed for skin-to-skin contact with infected genital surfaces.
Therefore, if you notice any sores Or growths in the perineal region you must get yourself checked with a venereologist.
Particularly with regard to risk of STD's from a cracked cuticle, it is almost negligible.
For HIV to enter blood stream, break in the skin Or wound must be fresh and actively bleeding. HIV cannot enter through a cracked cuticle Or a paper thin cut.
Syphilis causing bacteria may enter through intact skin as well; treponemes can penetrate intact skin.
Herpes virus may cause
herpetic whitlow on finger if the virus got seeded at the site of a cracked cuticle.
Therefore if you notice any ulcer or vesicles over the skin of this finger you may get it reviewed with a doctor.
As a doctor I would still suggest screening for Hiv and Syphilis at 1 month after sexual contact and for herpes at 2-4 weeks.
