I was detected as hypothyroid patient in 2nd month of pregnancy which was 3 yr back. they prescribed me thyronorm 25 mcg that time. Rt now I m taking 100 mcg , I am facing weight gain n hair loss problem recently I did test my TSH was 2.5 , Can i reduce the dosage?
Brief answer: No Detailed answer: Hi, Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your question and understand your concern. If you are taking thyronorm 100mcg regularly and your TSH is normal (2.5), it is better to continue with same dose. In my practice I do other tests like antithyroid antibodies and ultrasound neck to decide whether I can decrease the thyronorm dose. This decision is usually made when TSH is low (instead of normal in your case)
Dont worry, this is a treatment with minimum side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help With warm regards, Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM) Consultant Endocrinologist.
