Can I Smoke Cannabis Safely Three Days After Labrum Repair Surgery While Taking Clexane, Cefpodoxime, And Levofloxacin?
hey. i just got a labrum repair surgery, three days ago. now i am taking clexane injections, cefpodoxime antibiotic and levofloxacin antibiotic for my post op. it s been three days since im taking these medications. i was wondering if i could smoke cannabis or i should wait until i m clear of medications. is there any effects that are bad if i smoke ?
It is good to know that post surgery you are taking care of yourself. Do continue to take the medicines as prescribed. You are advised not to smoke cannabis. Smoking cannabis post operatively, it will interfere with pain medications and also with other medications and cause delayed healing.
Inhaling smoke can irritate the lungs during recovery from surgery, thus it may complicate healing. It will also interfere with cognitive effects. Thus, it may cause impaired judgment and coordination, increasing the risk of falls or accidents during the recovery period. It's recommended that you train your mind and choose not to smoke cannabis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
