Can I Take Lamictal After An Allergic Rash Gets Cured?
3 weeks ago I started taking Paxil and Lamictal. I started at 50 mg of Lamictal and possibly got a rash from it. The rash however could have been because of another medication. The doctors were unable to confirm. Is it safe for me to start retaking Lamictal now that the rash is gone
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Till now there are no reporting of allergic reaction with the above mentioned medications.
However, we cannot neglect possibility of it. Does allergic rashes started within 2-3 days of starting the above medication? Does rashes disappeared after stopping of them?
If yes, then rashes can be due to either any one of the medication or because of drug interaction.
Now the question is, if rashes were mild and restricted to limited area, resolved on its own and benefit of medication outweights the risk, Lamictal can be reused obviously with precautions.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Hiren
