Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dr proscribed sulindac for a sciatica nerve pain. I have been taking it for 5 days. The sciatica nerve pain is slightly better. However I have had balance concerns. On the first day I fell once. I am not sure what happened. I almost fell twice but caught myself. On day 4. Today was day 5 and as I walked up the stairs my leg gave out. Is this a symptom of sulindac? A symptom of sciatica nerve being agitated? Or something else. I did not take the second dose tonight. Can I take Motrin pm instead so I can sleep?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
Sulindac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat pain and inflammation. The balance concerns you are experiencing are a side effect of the medication. However, it is also possible that they are a symptom of your sciaticanerve pain. Some common side effects of Sulindac include dizziness and drowsiness, which can affect balance.
It is essential to consult with your doctor if you experience any concerning side effects; they will help to determine if the medication is the cause of your balance issues and if any changes should be made to your treatment plan. Taking Motrin PM or any other medication should be discussed with your doctor, as it may interact with Sulindac or other medicines you are taking.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
