Can I Take Nyquil For Cold After Taking Two Xanax For Anxiety?

I’m currently on Xanax .50mg I took one 7 hours ago and then another 6 hours ago when the one wasn’t helping with my anxiety. I have a cold and I was wondering if it would be ok if I took NyQuil? It does contain a little alcohol. Just want to be safe.

Hello,

Xanax is a benzodiazepine and you cannot take it with alcohol. Xanax can slow or stop your breathing, if you used it with an opioid medication or alcohol. You should not take Nyquil with Xanax to stay on the safer side. Since you have cold you can take warm beverages, and soup to feel better.

Limit talking and stay at rest for relief. Take home-made liquid diet. You can take a massage to get relieve from body ache and cold. You are advised to get connected to your treating doctor. Reducing the dose of Xanax may cause withdrawal symptoms that may make you uncomfortable. Do not reduce the dose of Xanax without consultation with your treating doctor.
