Hi,

Though the studies in rats shows, that use of Symbicort is teratogenic and embryogenic, when used by oral routes. However, there is no such effects seen in rats, when used by inhalation even with very very higher doses to the tune of 300-500 times, being used in human patients.

Also, it is well known, that teratogenic effect in rats is much more than human being. No, teratogenic or embryogenic effect has been seen in human being, when Symbicort is being used thru inhalation route. Therefore, it is to be presumed as a safe drug for being used during pregnancy by inhalation route.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
