Hi,
How are you? My name is Dr Suresh Raghavaiah. I am a surgical Gastro-enterologist and I hope to answer your question today.
Removal of the gall bladder is usually done by laparoscopic technique, which involves making 3 tiny incisions and removing the gall bladder. The main advantage of this is that there is very little pain, and patients are up and about the next day itself. Although I would avoid heavy lifting and multiple trips up and down, I do not see any reason why you will not be able to walk the stairs after the surgery.

Hope this helps and hope you start to feel better.

Have a great day.
