If those guys are going to say "eww", then they shouldn't have opened this question in the first place. All girls have periods, so if they really find it that disgusting rather than just accepting it, they must be gay. Anyway, my little sister is 13 and she uses them. (i only know this because i hold them for her in my pocket when she needs me to). so you should be fine.
