Can Losartan Cause Blurred Vision And Sinus Disorder?
I have taken Losartan for several years as I had a mini stroke. I have experienced nasal and sinus problems plus blurred vision for about 3 months now and am wondering if it is the Losartan.? What other drug could I use to prevent any further strokes?
Losartan may indeed cause sinus problems (sinusitis, other upper respiratory tract infection, nasal congestion, etc.) and it does so frequently enough (1-10% of patients using it). Blurred vision is another potential side effect of Losartan although it's not considered as prevalent as the nasal problems.
Any antihypertensive medication can be used to prevent further strokes. The main goal is to control the blood pressure. It does not matter much how you're going to achieve it. Therefore another medication can be substituted for Losartan. Examples of such medications include Ramipril, Amlodipine, diuretics, etc. Your doctor is the most appropriate person to introduce changes to your regimen, so make sure you get his approval before trying anything.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
