Hello, my name is Rachael and I have OCD. My therapist/psychiatrist recently prescribed me Luvox to help out and treat my OCD. I was wondering how safe it is because I am a teenager and I read that antidepressants/anxiety medication can have severe side affects in minors. Am I at a high risk for side affects?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Luvox is a brand name drug Fluvoxamine. It is a commonly prescribed drug with minimal side effects. The common side effects are nausea, vomiting and tremors. On prolonged use it can cause weight loss. Nothing much to worry as your physician will consider your age before starting a drug and Luvox doesn’t cause much harm to you.
Wishing you good health.
Thanks.
