Can Marvelon Be Replaced With Mercilon?

I am currently taking mercilon, but it when out of stock in our country. The only available pill closest to mercilon is marvelon. I am supposed to take mercilon yesterday for my day 1,but since it s unavailable now, can I replace marvelon instead? Will I take 2 pills now for my day 2? Thank you.

Hello,

Ok, other birth control pills can be substituted on day one. BUT they hormone regulation will not be reliable for 1-2 months and secondary forms of contraception should be used.

Also, OCP's while effective is only about 95% percent effective and a 5% failure rate per year (or a bit more if someone isn't careful) will add up over time.
