Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was put on Meloxicam for severe arthritic pain in my hands approximately for weeks now and I ve notice I ve put on some pounds when I haven t changed my eating habits. If anything I ve been watching what I eat cause I m trying to lose weight. Can this medicine be contributing to my weight gain?
Meloxicam can cause unexplained weight gain with long term use and the patients need to let their doctor know if this happens. The reason for this is the risk that long term use of Meloxicam can affect the heart and cause related issues and edema. Your doctor will have to examine you and rule out edema and heart problems first.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
