Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am 29 year old male and I am using mintop 5% from 5 months and from last 2 month I have sudden weight gain I am having proper diet and good life style. I don't think there is any other reasons.but I was taking foil.hair tablets multivitamins. I don't know what should I do I stop taking multivitamins should I stop mintop forte foam 5%.
Hi I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Minoxidil.
Usually when used as a lotion or foam, 5% Mintop (Minoxidil) causes localized irritation, itching, burning sensation or redness. However due to retention of sodium and water it can cause oedema thus weight gain can be the serious side effect.
In view of the above, I would advise you to consult your treating doctor to review the prescribed treatment for the hair fall.
Follihair which contains multivitamins and essential trace elements required for the growth of the hairs is unlikely to cause the weight gain, and thus can be continued.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. Mintop contains Minoxidil as its ingredient. It is a vasodilator and hence dilates blood vessels in the scalp. This would improve hair follicle function and stimulate scalp hair growth. The side effects noted with its use include: Severe allergic reactions, chest pain, dizziness, fainting, fast heartbeat, redness or irritation of the scalp, sudden, and unexplained weight gain, swelling of the hands or feet and unwanted facial hair growth. Since sudden and unexplained weight gain is one of the side effects mentioned, it would be better to seek medical attention by consulting Dermatologist and plan how you need to go about next. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
