Can Mucolite Be Stopped Before The Prescribed Course For Five Days?

My son is 3months and 2 weeks. Ran a fever of 102.8 a day ago and the doctor prescribed amoxicillin(Clavam) and Mucolite. His fever has subsided( 98 degrees) and doesnt seem to have any congestion now, can I stop giving him Mucolite though the prescribed course is for 5 days?

Hi,

It's good that your child is better now. Yes, you can stop Mucolite. This syrup is only used for diluting the phlegm and to help relieve a cough.

It's only used for symptoms control especially a difficult cough, so if your baby is feeling better and no symptoms then you can stop this. However, you should complete the course of antibiotics ie Amoxicillin.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
