Can Naprosyn Be Taken At A Gap Of One And A Half Hours?
I have pain pills given by my doctor on the bottle it says naproxen 500 they r light orange pills and it says generic for naprosyn they say 1 pill every 12 hrs but they r not helping with the pain it s been and hour and a half can I take another one
We usually prescribe Naproxen each day divided in two doses, unless we prescribe the controlled release pill which should be given once per day. In some cases higher doses per day can be given for a short while but other options have to be considered first for safety reasons.
Adding another type of painkiller may help. Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) for example, when combined with a NSAID (like Naproxen) or an opioid (like Codeine) offers more pain-relief that each of the drugs individually.
So in conclusion, in patients like you where a NSAID is not enough to provide adequate pain-relief in normal doses I usually add paracetamol first and an opioid later. If the triple combination cannot control the pain then increasing the dosage of the NSAID can be considered.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
