Can Nature-Throid Be Taken For Hypothyroidism If One Is Insulin Resistant?

Is this a safe choice if you are possibly insulin resistant yet not pre-diabetic, only taking Nature-thyroid for hypo-throidism, under control (a benign nodule removed half of thyroid, 20 years ago), Considering as about 20 pounds over weight and read this is good as a help with many aging issues.....(73 years and basically healthy). If OK to take, will this be something I may stop at a later date, or will this become a necessary drug to take indefinitely? This has been suggested as helpful by my integrative doctor.....Great blood pressure and cholesterol readings....

Hello
Welcome to Ask a Doctor service
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Insulin resistance has nothing to take anything with hypothyroidism what ever the medicine you take for hypothyroidism it is least concern with insulin resistance and the only effective medicine is thyroid hormone supplement (Thyroxine sodium) and it has to be taken only, and if this is being taken then it is nothing to take anything with insulin resistance.
Hope I have answered your query let me know for any further assistance.
