Can Nexplanon Implantation Causes Ankle Swelling With Edema?

I had nexplanon implanted in January. In May I rode a bus for 3 days and suffered from edema which quickly passed once I returned to my normal routine. I m now about to start my period and one of my ankles is swollen. I ve read a few things that says it might be related to the implant or my periods which is why i mentioned them. Anywho, I don t have the opportunity to go to a doctor anytime soon and was hoping to get some sound advice. Thanks!

Hello,

Nexplanon does not cause ankle swelling. It could be due to something else. If ankle swelling persists better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
