Can Northindrone Acetate Tablet Be Taken To Postpone Periods?

hi dr. i m 32 year old unmarried . my cycle was due on 1st october , but till now it has not yet started and due to some reason i need to delay it for another 4-5 days . i want to ask can i take northindrone acetate 5 mg tab and how many times a day should i take it.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Norethisterone contains progesterone which prevents the breakage of the uterine lining and thus prevents menstruation.

For this medicine to give desired effects, it has to be started 3 days earlier than your expected menstruation date. As you have already passed your expected date, it may or may not work. So you can start the medicine with the chances that you may still get menstruation.

You have to take one pill each day and you can take it for 15-17 days maximum.You can expect menstruation after 2-3 days of stopoing the pill.
