Can Phentermine Be Taken For Weight Loss While Breastfeeding?

I was just prescribed phentermine 37.5 to help with weight loss. I had been breastfeeding my 4 month old and supplemented with formula. I decided to stop breastfeeding and switch solely to formula but continue to pump and dump my milk while taking the phentermine as to keep my milk supply if I should change my mind and decide to breastfeed again. It has now been 30 hours since taking the pill. Can I safely nurse now? Has the phentermine had time to leave my system?

Phentermine is to be avoided when breast feeding, this would include expressing milk.
You cannot breast feed or express milk while using this medication, the medication would be present in the milk and be transferred to the baby.

You would need to discontinue one or the other.

Breast feeding can cause weight loss because it requires the body to use up a lot of calories. You would need to alter your diet so that it burns away any excess weight
