My daughter has been diagnosed with SLE. Her doctor prescribed Plaquenil. However, my daughter also has cerebral palsy and cannot swallow pills. The medication guide states not to break, chew or crush . When I questioned the pharmacist, he investigated and said that it is not on the clinical pharmacological list of pills to not crush so it should be ok. For that reason, he is puzzled that the information accompanying the drug states otherwise. Is it possible that this list is not current? Could you shed some light? This sounds like a nasty drug. While I want to alleviate my daughter s pain and suffering, I do not want to give her anything that will make her worse. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
