Can Polysporin Be Used To Treat Irritation Of Penis?
I think I may have balanitis, and I think this may have happened before as well. The tip of my penis is red and irritated and so is the tip of my foreskin. I have type 2 diabetes and I have genital herpes, both of which I have read contribute to the possibility of this condition. Can a topical like polysporin be used to treat this? I have no discharge.
I can understand your concern for red and irritated tip your foreskin.
It is evident from your query that you are diabetic so it is quite possible that you are suffering from fungal infection at penile and prepuce area. This is known as Candidal balanoposthitis.
Specifically these are related to the hygiene and environmental factors along with certain systemic complaints as in hormonal problem such as diabetes.
I suggest you to check the exact status of your sugar and control it if on higher side. In my patients I suggest them to apply clotrimazole cream and take anti-fungal tablets according to medical advice along with sugar control. Maintain good hygiene and do not apply polysporin by your own.
