Ponstan (mefenamic acid) is very effective in controlling fever and can be given to a child of 16 months of age. Ponstan (mefenamic acid) is more effective than Nurofen (ibuprofen) but both are good medicines and can be given. Most of the fevers in children of this age is due to viral cause and does not need antibiotics. The medicines that you mentioned are enough for managing the fever. You may also give sponging with water at room temperature.
