Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A month back i had predmet tablets for about 20 days as i was diagnosed bells palsy...after stopping the medicine now i am having fever since last week and a rise in my bp...esr level is also high...is this all the side effect of predmet which i took...and what to do as i still have fever...
Predmet contains a steroid, it suppresses the immune system and reduces inflammation. Steroids can cause an increase in blood pressure but because they reduce inflammation , they would more likely cause a decreased in the ESR and fever.
Both fever and high ESR are due to inflammation in the body. Steroids reduce not increase inflammation.
The fever and increase ESR would suggest that there is some source of inflammation still present in the body. It could be related to the Bells palsy or due to another infection. You would need to monitor for any additional symptoms to determine if there is another infection source.
I hope this helps
