Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Prilosec Be Taken Along With Methotrexate Prescribed For Psoriatic Arthritis For Sporadic Upper Abdominal Pain?
I want to take Prilosec because I have had an upper stomach ache on and off for a week. I take methotrexate for psoriatic arthritis once a week. I notice on the box of Prilosec that I should ask a health care professional if it is okay to take these drugs together. Do you have advice? Thanks.
If taken together Prilosec can delay the clearance of Methotrexate from the body and thus increase the blood levels and serious side effects of Methotrexate.
Kindly consult your doctor for effective alternative medicine for your sporadic upper abdominal pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali,
