Can Remeron, Prozac, Zyprexa And Effexor Be Taken Together?

I have a friend that has been severely depressed since December and is taking remron, prozac, zyprexa and now they have added effexor. I am wondering if any of these might interact poorly with the others and if it addresses obsessive/compulsive as well as anxiety and depression? my email is YYYY@YYYY also wondering about alternative treatments such as electomagnetic treatments and herbs, etc.? He is at a psyc unit (finally) but it doesn t seem that he is getting much one on one counseling, which is what I think he needs....

hello there, the medicines which you have mention definitely helps with anxiety and depression. However zyprexa has limited role in plain depressive disorder. Your friend is at present on three different group of anti depressants. If he is still not responding, then I suggest you to change your psychiatrist and get a second opinion. You may also consider consulting a clinical psychologist and start on psychotherapy like cognitive therapy. They reduce depressive symptoms significantly and reduce the dose of medications also. All the best.
