Can Sterptomycine Injection Be Taken After Discontinuing Refampicine?

My sgpt is 72 and sgot is 80. I am taking tb medicine which are refampicine 600, isonizid 300 and combutol1000. Initially have taken refampicine, isoniazid, pirizinzmide ang combutol. Now my doctor suggested me to leave refampicine and start streptomycine 1000mg injection. Is it advisable to discontinue RFM.

Rifampin can be associated with hepatotoxicity (damage to the liver).

Injury to the liver would be associated with increase in the liver enzymes as in your case.
This would be the reason that your doctor advised the medication to be discontinued and suggested an alternative.

It is possible, if the medication is discontinued that improvement may occur.
