Can Suboxone Be Taken To Get Over Withdrawal From Oxycontin?
My boyfriend stopped taking his oxycontin 80mg - 160mg/day about 22 hours ago. He waited until his withdrawls were as bad as he could handle before taking his first dose of Suboxone 8mg {sublingually}. At first, he started to feel a little worse, and then he started feeling less than worse. Should he take more suboxone and see what happens or should he go back to takin oxycontin to get some relief and feel better? (no withdrawls)
Oxycontin is Oxycodone and the drug is a narcotic pain reliever medicine. He was taking high doses of the drug and now stopped to take medicine. He go off cold turkey and is now on Buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is a common drug used in opioid withdrawal syndrome. The drug is a partial agonist agent and it reduces the symptoms. He is feeling a little worse with doses so it may be a possibility that he might be taking less doses. I would advise you to take him to a psychiatrist for help. Opioid detox should be done under proper supervision only. Buprenorphine or Suboxone will help in preventing withdrawal symptoms.
Thanks, hope this helps you
