Can TB Medication Cause Drowsiness?

Sir,
My on is under traetment of lungs TB for the past seven months. He is now taking medication of Macox plus tablets,besides other medicines. He feels very sleepy when woken up to go to school, and in most cases he does not wake up and misses school.

Kindly tell me whether it is the side effect of the medicines he is taking now?

Hello
You mentioned that your son is taking macox-plus i.e. rifampicin+ isoniazide and other antibiotics ( you didn't mention the name of other antibiotics , so it is very difficult to say which drug is causing sedation ).
Isoniazide don't produces sedation sleepiness .
While there are so many side effects of rifampicin and one of them is DROWSINESS , this may be the reason of sleepiness in your son.
For this consult your treating doctor and adjust dosage .
However I prescribe this drug on empty stomach early in the morning .
