Can Trazodone 50 Mg Cause Any Side Effects In A 98-year-old Dementia Patient?
my mother is 98 years old. has dementia and some nights does not sleep hallucinating. Her Doctor prescribed Trazodone 50 mg. so she can sleep. This med is for patients with depression, and it may help in sleeping. Should I give to mom or discuss this further with her Doctor?

It is no longer used for depression in patients, the SSRI are more commonly used (eg paxil, celexa, zoloft etc).
It is more commonly used as a sleep aid. You can discuss with her doctor if you are not comfortable with it.
