Can Valerian Or Cartia Cause Itchy Scalp?
I have developed itching. I have been taking CARTIA XT FOR ABOUT 8 DAYS. My doctor told me to take melatonin or valerian for sleeping. I took 1.5 mg of melatonin for 6 days with little help sleeping. I then tried valerian root 500 mg capsule the seventh day. I DID NOT TAKE THESE TOGETHERI slept great. The next morning I developed itching in my scalp and back. I took a Magnesium supplement the 7th night also. It has been on going since yesterday morning. Could this be the valerian root or the Cartia XT causing the itching. I did not take the valerian root last night.

CARTIA XT ( diltiazem hydrochloride ) can cause dermatitis and consequent itching but it is rare. Allergic reactions to valerian root have been reported but the skin itching,if any would be generalized.
