Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a bad case of pinched nerves in my left side of the back and the pain goes down the leg into the foot and it is excruciating and I cannot walk, sit, or lay down. They have tried epidurals, rhizotomy or blocking the nerves. Nothing touches the pain...Tylenol, trammadol, melixacam, hydrocodone, diazipan, Today, they gave me gabapentin and it is not helping at all. Can I try taking vialium or another pain pill along with the gabapentin?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are no interactions of adverse kind reported in the literature with regard to intake of Valium (Diazepam) and Gabapentin. Diazepam is a medication belonging to benzodiazepine family that typically produces a calming effect. It is not recommended to treat pain. It would be advisable to consult your doctor before intake of any other medication apart what has been prescribed.
Hope the information provided helps.
Best wishes.
Regards,
Dr.Ashakiran.S.
