Can Valsartan Be Taken While On Tamsulosin And Vitamin-D3 Supplements?
Hello, just one question. Was scripted Tamsulosin, I take valsartan 325 for BP, also in the am I take fish oil for omega threes and a daily vitamin D3. I was told by my doc to take tamsulosin at night. Well ... that’s it! Hey thanks anyway, I won’t be paying for a question I can ask my pharmacist for no cost. Have a good evening.
Valsartan and Tamsulosin should not be taken together. Valsartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist used alone or in combination with other medications to treat high blood pressure. It is also used to treat heart failure. Tamsulosin is an alpha-1A blocker used to treat urinary symptoms associated with benign prostatic enlargement.
If taken together, these medications can cause hypotension (low blood pressure) resulting in syncope (loss of consciousness with an inability to maintain postural tone). Hence, Tamsulosin should always be taken at bedtime. There's no documented harmful interaction between the other medications.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali
