Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About 2 months after receiving my first Cimzia shot, I began having pretty constant (every day) bouts of diarrhea. I also have had some nausea and vomiting as well. Do you think it could be the Cimzia? When I investigated Cimzia s side effects, listed online was stomach pain and diarrhea. I really would like to keep taking Cimzia as it has already helped my RA even after only 3 months, but I can t live normally like this. I welcome your opinion.
Diarrhea (loose stools) is a known side effect of Cimzia (Certolizumab). However, it is not a serious one and is treatable, so you need not worry. Just drink Oral rehydration solution (ORS - WHO approved) to prevent water and electrolyte loss. Drink coffee or buttermilk to reduce the frequency. Usually, with continuous dosage, the frequency decreases.
Consult the treating physician if you develop rashes, urticaria or breathing difficulty.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
