Can A Blood Test Check For Chlamydia?

I went to an std specialist office and told them a girl I recently saw told me she now has Chlamydia (and I was her only partner in the last 2 years). They said I only need a blood test, but seems to differ from everything else I ve researched. Is there something new that can check for Chlamydia via a blood test. My test in April was negative, and I assume the test now should be positive.
