Hi and welcome to HCM,

I suppose that you were using depo contraceptive injections and had the last one in October. After that the next dose was due on 13 th jan but did not take it. So you want to know the chances of pregnancy after having sex after 13th January.

The depo shots are to be taken preferably on the recommended date of the next shot to be effective. If the dose is not taken than the protection against pregnancy stops. So chances of getting pregnant are there similar to that in women not using a contraceptive.

I suggest that if it is less than 72 hours since you last had sex, please take an emergency contraceptive pill like plan B. Also chances of pregnancy from a single act of sex is low but repeated acts increase the chances. The only way to rule out pregnancy now is by a urine test 3 weeks after the day of sex or by blood test 2 weeks after the day of sex. Also it is advisable to use another method like condoms if you are off depo shots.

Hope this satisfies your query.
Thanks for using HCM.
