Hello,
Hormonal replacement is recommended if you have undergone surgical removal of ovaries before 45 years. It is advised to continue until the average age of natural menopause unless you have any contraindications for taking it (contraindications are
breast cancer, thrombotic diseases, personal or family history of
hormone dependent cancer, liver disease, history of DVT,
pulmonary embolism, obesity).
For the initial 1 or 2 years post surgery you may need Progynova of 2 mg dosage, but after that you can reduce the dose to 1 mg. If you have not done
hysterectomy then you should take Meprate in the second half of cycle for 12 to 14 days to induce withdrawal bleeding. If you have done hysterectomy then you may not need
progesterone. So estrogen in lower dose is taken daily and you will have to add progesterone in the second half of cycle ie from day 14 to 28 and then wait for withdrawal bleeding.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
