Can A Delay In Taking Folic Acid Cause Neural Tube Defect?

hi my last date was 27th March. I came to know about pregnancy on 29th April and I visited my gyne on 14th May and I started taking folic acid capsule from next day. I recently read in article that delay in taking folic acid can cause Neural Tube Defect (NTD). Will it cause NTD for delay in taking folic acid? Please tell me.

Dear madam ,I understand your concern.in ny opinion complete not taking of folic acid and those who are on anti epileptic drugs(they inhibit folic acid absorption) and some genetic disorders are at risk of neural tube defects.so dont worry yours is not too late.from now on dont miss and also take good amount of green leafy vegetables and banana which are rich source of folic acid.
