Can A Growing Painful Lump In Breast Be Related To Breast Cancer?
My sister got a lump in both her breasts. Gradually, the size of the lumps is increasing. It is also painful and the pain increases from her breasts to her back. Is she affected by Breast Cancer?- Also, where can I get mamogram test in Kolkata?-
Your concern is very much valid. However, usually, the cancerous growths are painless initially. Still the diagnosis can be done only histopathology on the biopsy specimen. Before that, she needs to be examined by a surgeon.
If the tumours in the breasts are not fixed to the deeper tissues and are freely mobile, the nipple is not dragged in nor there is any bloody discharge from the nipple(s), the chances of cancer are less.
Mammography is a good option. Before that better get surgeon's opinion. Your surgeon will guide you to a proper centre for mammography.
If the size of the tumours is increasing very fast, it is better to get it removed and subject for histopathological examination to rule out the cancer. If it turns out to be a non-cancerous tumour, excision will cure her.
I hope you got the advice.
