Can A Hair Transplant Improve The Hair Growth In Dented Area?

I am a 64 year old female having hair loss issues. I saw a D.O. who diagnosed me as having alopecia areata & he gave me steroid inj in the scalp. My head is now very dented and I have lost all hair in these areas. I have been diagnosed with androgenic alopecia and am going to have a hair transplant. My question is, will the hair take in these dented areas?

Hi,You are going for hair transplant ...good. Atrophy has occurred after Intradermal steroid injection in some area..right? In this depressed area if hairs are transplanted, they may be survived as there is no damage to capillaries and dermis. Dent is due to lessened fat in hypodermis . So, do not worry.Best of luck.Hope this helps.Dr.Ilyas Patel,Dermatologist
