Can A Hematoma Behind The Left Knee Be A Symptom Of A Blood Clot?

My right thigh has pain upon getting up from a rest position and walking. My lower back is tight and also seems to take awhile to allow me to walk normal after sleep or prolonged periods of rest. Of note, I experienced a left hamstring strain or tear a few months back which produced a large hematoma just above the back of my left knee. The area of concern is in the opposite leg (right thigh) and I need a little help considering if this could be a clot? Not sure that I can explain it being in the opposite leg as the injury??? Arthritis was my first impression considering the stiffness in my back but this pain seems to be more in the muscle itself (right thigh) as opposed to a joint. Any help or ideas or tests I should consider? I am a Doctor but this is not my area of expertise. Help? Thank You

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult an orthopaedic and get evaluated. You can go for an ultrasound Doppler to make a diagnosis. Small clots will settle by itself without any treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
