Can A Hemorrhoidectomy Wound Be Managed Using Showerhead Shower Massage?

I had hemorrhoidectomy.Dr advised sitz bath. I have been using shower message for ten minutes or so with gentle soap washing. It seems to do a better job as warm water is under pressure and can be concentrated on needed area.Would this procedure meet the standard of the sitz bath ?

Dermatologist 's  Response

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

1. Maintain good hygiene and bath twice daily.
2. Hot sitz bath with potassium permanganate is good treatment in your case.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.

If problem persists then consult a dermatologist.

Thanks.
Dr. Harshit bhachech.
