Can A Kidney Stone Pass With A Stent In Place, And Is It Safe To Have Sex Or Sleep On The Side With The Stent?
Hi, I got a stent placed in my kidney because of kidney stone. The stone is on uretera like 3-4cm from kidney. My questios is, can the stone pass with the stent near it ? Can I have sexual intercourse (i’m a female) and Can I sleep on the side i have the stent ?
You have a ureteral stent for kidney stones. Yes, the stent allows the kidney stones to pass to the bladder and out if the stones are small. It is a minimal invasive procedure with minimum risks. However, it can irritate the bladder lining leading to intermittent bloody urine. Stay at rest. Avoid strenuous activities like jogging, weightlifting, excessive walking, etc.
You should avoid doing sexual intercourse while you have the stent as the stent may get dislodged. It may increase discomfort due to stent. It will be more comfortable if you sleep on the opposite side where there is stent placed.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
