Can A Loud Pop In The Upper Chest Upon Bending Be A Symptom Of A Torn Muscle?
I bent across a car seat with my chest half on and off the seat(looking under it) and had a loud pop sound in y upper left chest area...now very sore to touch and breath.Wondering if I tore something? Under/by heart, but don t think it s my heart more between my ribs.Should I worry?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Don't worry it common due to sliding of cartilage on bone ends of sternum. Calcification of the cartilage associated with the sternum is an accumulation of calcium deposits in that area. The calcified calcium can result in small shards that wear away at the joints, breaking down cartilage. This wearing down of the cartilage can cause the popping sound you may be hearing.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
