Can A Mini Stroke Cause Slurred Speech, Tiredness, Sleeplessness And Breathlessness?
Hello, My father had a stroke 8 years ago, they think caused by a defect in his heart which has been repaired since then. He suffers also from hypertension and had a pacemaker put in about 2 months ago. About a week ago, we started noticing that he now has slurred speech, is very tired..can hardly keep his eyes open sometimes, trouble sleeping and gets winded very easily. This seems to have happenned overnight. Could he have suffered a mini-stroke?? If so, should he be checked by his family doctor?? He s very stubborn and refuses to go thinking it will get better with rest. Thank You.

Here as per the symptoms you have mention I believe you should check with cardiologist and discus once about him as well do take patient to check and evaluate there is no further cardiac issue. Because many of time I have seen patient gets the stroke due to blood pressure on a higher side or else cardiac issues. Now if cardiac problem is not there then visit a neuro and do go for mri scan of brain when he suggest. To check there is no damage going on inside the brain. Apart from this when every thing is fine I suggest to do regular walk or cycle and ask him to take proper rest as well diet. And he should be fine with that. Hope you got some idea what to do now. Take care.
