General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Swollen and painful lump indicates an infection. Most likely its a kind of abscess. Can be caused by infected sebaceus cyst. There should be a lump present in this area before.
Waiting a week is to long if its an abscess. And its hard to treat it at home. It should be incised and drained. So you should rather consult a surgeon with it.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
