I have a boil on the back of my neck. It is very painful to the touch. I applied warm compression to it and it drained a little with compression but its still hard and painful. My assclown doctor won't be in until 1 week from tomorrow and er cost on my insurance is crazy is there anything I can do from home.
Swollen and painful lump indicates an infection. Most likely its a kind of abscess. Can be caused by infected sebaceus cyst. There should be a lump present in this area before. Waiting a week is to long if its an abscess. And its hard to treat it at home. It should be incised and drained. So you should rather consult a surgeon with it.
Hope this will help. Regards.
