Can A Painful Neck Knot With Tenderness, Hardness And Redness Be Treated?

I woke up this past Sunday morning with a very painful, tender, red, hard marble sized knot on the back of my neck. I had my hair professionally colored with organic color systems hair dye on Saturday. I ve been using the same dye for about a year and a half now. I m not sure if this problem is related to the hair dye. I went to see a physician who advised that it is unlikely an insect bite and more likely an infected lymph node or hair follicle. Treatment suggested was warm compresses 3x per day and taking anti inflammatories. Is there anything else I could do or any recommendations you might have?

Hi,Thanks for your query. After going through your query I came to know that you are having a very painful, tender, red, hard marble sized knot on the back of your neck. It is likely to be an infected lymph node or hair follicle as your doctor suggested .Take treatment as advised by your doctor. If you have fever then antibiotics can be added. If this not does not decrease in size within a week or enlarged then its biopsy can be planned to make confirm diagnosis.You can discuss with your treating Doctor about it.
