Can A Person Be Cured After Having Aneurysm Followed By External Drain And Palliative Care?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here.. My Father in law had an aneurysm 3 weeks ago. They clipped it and did an external drain. He remained unconsious so they decided not to do a shunt and instead proceeded to palliative care. His vitals are strong. He is not on a ventilator. He is 85 and prior to this exercised everyday and had no medications. He had no medical problems except arthritis. He is on ativan for seizure but nothign else. could he recover? what questions should we ask?
I am sorry to hear about your father-in-law and his recent aneurysm with coma. If he has not awakened from surgery and is in a coma then the prognosis is not good. He may have had significant brain trauma during surgery is not expected to survive since they recommended palliative treatment. I recommend you ask the doctors what is prognosis is and what therapies will be done to make him comfortable. The goal with palliative therapy is making a person comfortable in their last days.
Hope this answers your question. Please contact us again with your concerns.
