Can A Pregnancy Test Be Negative But I Still Miss My Period?
I am 21 days late on my period, but negative pregnancy test, I'm not sure what my period wouldn't start if I'm not pregnant, my periods come every month like clockwork. I have been more tired than usual and my belly feels hot, and kinda feel a little sick all the time, after I eat. Can I be pregnant?
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. Confirmatory of pregnancy is by pregnancy test ,so your symptoms of hot abdomen & nausea do not signify. In case of doubt blood HCG test would differentiate it from pregnancy. Other conditions like convalescence from illness/ anemia/thyroid or ovarian problems may cause delay in periods. You can take a short course of oral contraceptive like Regestrone ( 1 pill twice aday for 3-5 days, after confirming absence of pregnancy.) & expect bleeding in 8 days of stopping the pills.your next period may follow normally.. if not consult a gynecologist get examined, investigated to find the cause & get specific treatment. Thanks. Thanks.
