Can A Red, Itchy Skin Be Side Effect Of Nicotine Patch?
Skin in one area of hip very irritated for 2 days now from nicotine patch. I am on the lowest dose. It always irritates my skin at first for like 30 minutes and then goes away. I did step 2 for 2 weeks and am almost done with 2 weeks of step 3. Am I allergic to something? The skin in that 1 place is very itchy raised and red.
You seem to have developed an allergic skin disease which might be due to the patch. I would advise you to stop its application and discuss the issue with your local treating doctr. You should avoid applying any kind of skin irritants like dettol, spirit over it.
You might need to apply a topical steroid cream over the affected area twice a day for few days. Take some oral antihistamines along. See a nearby dermatologist if the condition tends to persist despite this therapy. You might need a course of oral steroids.
Hope it helps,
